Our Mission

Mariposa Foundation grew out of a belief that everyone deserves access to mental health care, regardless of where they come from or what they can afford.

Cultivating hope, healing minds, and building resilient communities.

Mariposa Foundation was created to fill the gaps that leave too many people without mental health and substance use care. People with low incomes, no insurance, and complicated life circumstances that too many systems weren't built to handle.

We dedicate this work to the survivors and the people we have lost. To those who carried complicated trauma and grief. To those who chose to heal, and to those who never got the chance. You are why this exists.

We believe mental health care and trauma-informed support are human rights, full stop. Not privileges. Not rewards for financial stability. Rights. And we believe that a healthy community starts with its most vulnerable members — not its most resourced ones.

We find our direction through grassroots research, collaboration with community partners, and most importantly the voices of our neighbors. We offer education and training to professionals so that our mission reaches further than we can alone so that wherever someone walks through a door looking for help, they have a better chance of finding it.

We invite you to join our mission of care. Together, we can eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health, design accessible lifelines of support, and foster a society where every individual feels seen, heard, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Our Core Values

At the Mariposa Foundation, our actions are guided by a commitment to access, community, and equity.

Access for All

We started this because too many people in our community were going without care they needed. That is still the whole point. If cost, location, or circumstance is standing in the way, we want to help.

Community First

We do not assume we know what people need. We listen to our neighbors, learn from our partners, and let the community shape the work — not the other way around.

Dignity and Respect

No one should have to prove they deserve help. Everyone who comes to us is treated with care and without judgment, full stop.

Integrity

We build trust through transparency, ethical practice, and deep respect. Every decision we make is aligned with our responsibility to our community.

Collaboration

We are not trying to do this alone. The best outcomes for the people we serve come from working alongside other organizations, professionals, and community members who care about the same things we do.

Equity

We actively focus on the people who have historically been left out and harmed as the foundation of everything we do. Every voice matters.
